Responder Inflatable Child Restraint Seat Fulfills the requirements of the NHTSA Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 213 for child protective seats, the Responder models are stored deflated in a carry bag not much larger than a laptop computer case. When needed, the seat is inflated either by a 12-volt DC electric pump, which operates from a vehicle cigarette lighter-type outlet or by the optional carbon dioxide cartridge system, (model EP-240). The electrical plugs also fit "Laerdal" type 12-volt receptacles found in the back of most ambulances. These have been great hits with ambulance services, law enforcement agencies, and child welfare services and anyone else who might have to safely transport a child and who does not have the luxury of having a conventional rigid seat installed in their vehicle at all times. CO2 Cartridges for the EP-240 inflatable car seat are available under special arrangements. These pressurized cartridges pose special requirements that make this unusual procedure necessary.
